Age shall not weary them

Nor the years condemn

At the going down of the sun

And in the morning

We will remember them.

Lest we forget.

Those are amongst the most moving words ever written I think. As usual our little community commemorated Anzac Day with the school children running the service. Short and sweet but full of meaning. We were honoured to have a Major (Military Medal) of veteran  of 35 years Army Service not long moved to the area, give a short address alongside the kids.

And it wouldn’t be a gathering in Australia with smoko and cup of tea to follow.

Lest we forget.

  1. I was considered the worst mother in the world Anzac Day morning having promised the kids the night before I would take them in to Marlborough for Dawn Service. With the alarm set for 3:30, it got the better of me at 3 knowing we had a long day of fencing ahead of us. I turned the alarm off and let children sleep until 6:30. Well, wasn't I popular!
Your service looks to be held at a much more child-friendly time. We did enjoy a very moving service at school the afternoon before, such a special day.
(And I love the blonde lady's dress).
