New Header

Tired today, after an afternoon and evening spent with friends at our local campdraft AGM and Christmas get together (sadly I am still in a job!) It was a lovely evening spend outside on the lawn - good food, relaxed atmosphere and many laughs.  Just a few kids, but just the right amount as they did.not.stop. playing from when we got there until when we left, and were hard pressed to stop and eat. But the drive home seemed to take forevvvveeeer, as it does when its late and the driver (ME) is tired!

But in an effort to kick start some creativity, especially as Di is just powering through some digital pages, I thought I would whip up a new seasonal header!  Don't know why I haven't changed it for so long, as really, it takes no time at all to make. Except for choosing a photo....anyhow - there it is, up there ^^^

That's all I have for today...

Simple

I've long admired those simple rustic bare branch Christmas decor/trees.  I went searching the good old internet for some inspiration:

The mulberry tree just happened to need some long, annoying and face slapping braches removing, and they were just the perfect shape for a similar creation.

A few cable ties later (what a marvellous invention - and I have to hide my special packet of them from my husband, who has been known to make serious mechanical repairs with cable ties!) plus the mad wielding of a can of white spray paint - which took much thought - silver, white or gold? - I had my own rustic branch.

I orginally planned to have it in a silver gal bucket, but it was a bit too big and heavy looking - and then I remembered I had this great metal pitcher.  I guess I could have done the white spray paint on it too...what do you think?

Now I just have to get out  some small christmas balls and sparingly place them over. Or maybe even some small paper creations.

I am wondering if left bare, this could be left out all year round (although what a dust and cobweb collector it could be!) , placed on a little table in front of a series of rustic photo frames (have photos, have frames, have not placed on wall!)

Great fun in anycase!!  We do have a normal tree, which was decorated by the kids (heavy on the ornaments towards the bottom half of the tree!) and at this stage, I really couldn't be bothered by putting up many more decorations.  Perhaps I will feel more festive closer to Christmas and put more decorations around the house...perhaps not!

Waiting

Waiting for my next dentist appointment....in FEBRUARY, which was the earliest next available appointment, necessary because I was chicken and took the easy route and held out my hand for an antibiotics script rather than the needle and drill...

Waiting for it to rain. For many reasons - the obvious.  Green grass, water, less financial pressure as grass = no need for supplementary feeding.  Rain = don't need to water the garden. Rain = grass in my back paddock and putting the wretched plant eating poddy (Jumpin' Jack Flash - I don't think you've been introduced yet!) out of the garden. Rain = perhaps husband and father of my children actually spending some time at home.

Waiting for some family time (see above) and the holiday season. The kids just started school holidays, and its just, a wee tiny bit, starting to feel like the slowing down relaxed lets-do-nothing time of the year. Maybe.

Waiting to find the time or, more realistically, get my butt into gear, finish painting the office wall. Clean up the bomb site of office that comes from moving everything to paint the wall. Reclaim my scrapping and sewing desks.  Actually DOING something vaguely creative.

Waiting for customers to pay their bills.  Rather obvious...money in bank account!  Some people are so slack, deliberatley or not, I don't know.

Waiting to get rid of some of my volunteer jobs - secretary/treasurer.  I could rant here, but to keep it short, it is really time for other people to get off their butts and do something.  Like my husband (famous for getting to the point!)said:  "if other people aren't interested in doing these jobs, they aren't interested in keeping the club/s running".  I am mentally worn out doing this volunteer stuff - I need to put my mental energies back into our own business.

Waiting for Christmas Day.  Only 20 more sleeps, apparently.  Who taught these kids to count?!  I so need to get a head start on wrapping some presents each night when the kids go to bed.  And I so need a dedicated wrapping area  - wouldn't that be great! sigh.

And that's whats on my mind today.  Or some of it, anyhow!!
